Six Essential Tips for Camping

Ah, the great outdoors – there’s something about spending time outside under the stars that recharges the spirit. Blue Springs Ranch offers a variety of camping accomodations – from basic tent camping to electric only and full electric, water, and sewer sites for RV hookups. There’s a camping experience for everyone, and we want you to be prepared for your trip! Below are six essential tips for making sure your camping trip is fun and relaxing.

1. Pack the Right Gear

Mother Nature can be unpredictable, so it’s important to ensure you’re prepared for whatever weather changes may occur while you’re camping. However, this doesn’t mean you need to bring your entire closet. When camping, layering is key to a comfortable time. Try to wear moisture-wicking clothing that will keep you dry.

2. Don’t Forget Your Sleeping Essentials

When camping outside it’s important to bring a tent that is not only light-weight, but also designed to keep you dry and free from pesky bugs! You’ll also want to bring a sleeping bag with a temperature rating that is slightly lower than the lowest temperature you expect to experience. For a good night’s sleep, pack a sleeping pad or air mattress, and a pillow.

3. Get Fired Up

Having materials to make a fire is essential to any camping trip. After all, a good fire will not only keep you warm, but also serve as a heat source for cooking. At Blue Springs Ranch, our basic sites feature a BBQ and fire ring to help make your excursion as hassle-free as possible. Depending on your plans, you may want to consider bringing charcoal, fire starters, wood, and matches or lighter.

4. Bring Plenty of Food

Granola, protein bars, jerky, and dried fruit are great snack options for camping. The fact that they don’t spoil or require any preparation make them an easy treat to bring along on long hikes, as well. Also, don’t forget to bring plenty of water to keep you hydrated throughout the day.

5. Stay Clean

When camping, you’re going to get dirty, it’s impossible to avoid. However, at Blue Springs Ranch, you’ll have access to restrooms and a coin-operated shower house to help you stay clean. Don’t forget to pack the essentials: toothbrush, toothpaste, and multi-purpose soap.

6. Safety First

Safety should be your number one priority when enjoying the great outdoors. So, don’t leave the house with sunscreen, a first-aid kit, personal medications, and bug spray.

With a little preparation, camping can be a great way to unwind and recharge. Keep these tips in mind as you prepare for your upcoming camping trip at Blue Springs Ranch. And, if you forget anything, we have you covered. Our onsite store has everything you need from towels to tent pegs, ice, food, and everything in between. Happy camping!
